  • What exactly is aerial yoga and what are the benefits?
Aerial yoga is a suspension fitness class (yep, we literally have hammock hanging from the ceiling) offering surprising physical benefits, including spinal decompression and pain relief, as well as a gentle full-body workout. We often hear people say that they use muscles they forgot were there, even if they are actively training. As well as the physical movements, these classes can also challenge your mind and rewardingly, you will be surprised and impressed with yourself at what you can achieve! Improves Flexibility: Aerial yoga helps you to move more freely, with less effort, by counteracting gravity. Suspension in the air releases tension on the bones and muscles, increasing flexibility and deepening your practice. Back Problems: Aerial yoga gives you the chance to hang freely, allowing your spine to lengthen. With less strain on your back, while doing the exercises, it eases tension in the spinal cord and hip joints, helping you feel better. Increases Strength: Aerial yoga improves strength and flexibility, which carries over into other daily activities. The core workout also helps with cross-training, as it helps runners increase stamina and be able to recover faster. Improves Balance: While going against gravity can be exciting, Aerial yoga also helps with balance and stability in daily activities. Balance is a key component in daily activities, and aerial yoga helps maintain a good balance both inside and out. Just to name a few.
  • Are there any health conditions that prevent me from participating?
Unfortunately, pregnant women are unable to participate in Aerial Classes. If you suffer from glaucoma, very high or low blood pressure, vertigo, osteoporosis or any bone weakness, carpal tunnel syndrome or have had a recent stroke, hernia or surgery you are also not ready to participate in a class. That said, please reach out to us to discuss alternative fitness support for yourself.
  • When and how much are classes?
We currently run classes on Tuesday and Thursday nights at 6:30pm. Classes run for around 45mins. First time fly is $20 Casual pop in $25 5 class pass $100 ($20 per class)
  • What should I wear and bring to class?
Form-fitting clothing is best. Baggy clothing (think sweatpants and loose-fitting tees) can make it more difficult to move as clothes become bunched against the fabric of the hammock. Ultimately, however, wed love you to be comfortable so please wear what you feel best working out in. No footwear is required, classes are performed in socks or barefoot. Jewellery is not recommended in Aerial classes as it can snag the fabric. Just yourself and some water. The studio will provide all other equipment needed for the class including yoga mats and of course, hammocks.
  • Is there an age requirement to participate?
We ask that all participating members be 14 years or older for regularly scheduled classes. (Those under the age of 18 will require a parent or guardian to sign an informed consent waiver on their behalf).
  • How much weight can the hammocks hold?
Aerial hammocks are professionally rigged to withstand 300kg of force. So don’t worry, you’re not going anywhere!
  • Do you do private sessions?
We love private sessions! Corporate and sporting groups, hens parties, family groups of up to 13 people and more are welcome to book a session at a time that suits them. Please contact us to work out a session plan and time for you and your event. Find out more about out our private sessions
